The Institute for Canadian Citizenship

The Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC) is a national, not-for-profit organization co-chaired by the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson and Mr. John Ralston Saul. The ICC initiates projects that foster discussion and understanding of the values associated with Canadian Citizenship as well as helps new Canadians bridge the gap from newly-arrived immigrant to fully engaged citizen. The ICC’s initiatives include:

• enhancing citizenship ceremonies;
• increasing awareness of, disseminating information concerning, and promoting successful grassroots immigrant support programs;
• providing forums for national non-partisan information exchanges and discussions on issues related to immigration and citizenship
• analyzing and disseminating existing research on issues related to immigration and citizenship

The Dominion Institute

The Dominion Institute was founded in 1997 by a group of young people concerned about the decline of history as a core subject in schools and by the public perception of the country's past as academic and boring.

Since 1997, the Dominion Institute has focused its efforts on conducting original research into Canadians' knowledge of the country's past and building innovative programmes - like the LaFontaine-Baldwin Symposium - that broaden appreciation of the richness and complexity of the Canadian story.
